BORDER RELAY FOR LIFE PARTNERSHIP

We are so excited to announce our Partnership with Border Relay For Life in 2017 - 2018 -2019. Border Relay For Life have made a huge contribution to the Cancer Council over the years and we know this partnership will continue to grow the strength of this great community event over the coming years.

Relay For Life began in Australia in 1999 when the Victorian community of Murrumbeena raised over $75,000 for Cancer Council. Relays are now held in every Australian State and Territory, with more than 134,000 participants raising over $24 million each year. Every dollar raised goes towards funding Cancer Council’s vital research, prevention and support programs, many of which help people in your community every day.

More than 2800 residents from the border and surrounding area came together for the 16th Border Relay for Life, which was held in October 2016, making it one of the biggest events held in Australia for 2016.

The local Border Relay for Life committee, which was awarded Albury’s Volunteer Group of the Year on Australia Day, was excited to announce that the final fundraising figure for the 2016 event has been finalised, with just over $418,000 being raised by the border community and sponsors.

Dollars raised were invested into the Cancer Council’s research, prevention programs and local support services on the border for those affected by cancer such as the Transport to Treatment Program which offers free transport for local Border cancer patients to access their treatment and medical appointments, and skin cancer prevention programs such as Improve Your Long Game which is aimed at local golfers.

We are loking forward to supporting for another record breaking year this year and we encourage you to join the thousands of Australians who take part in Cancer Council’s Relay For Life each year in the fight against cancer: start or join a team in the Border (Albury/Wodonga) 2017 Relay today!

We have an interactive sponsorship agreement with many local community and sporting groups which assist them in raising funds for their groups all year round. For more details on how Jacob Toyota can help your community group please contact the dealership.

We are also committed in helping grass roots football in the Albury Wodonga area by hosting Good For Footy events at local schools and in the community to help increase children’s interest and skills development in this great Australian sport. Jacob Toyota are also committed to our environment and are strongly linked with Clive Cameron Reserve group who work tirelessly in the community by planting trees in community park areas to help improve the environment and create homes for native animals.

This year Jacob Toyota have also introduced information days for community groups such as Women on Farms in Corryong, where we were able to spend quality time with working women on farms in rural areas by showing basic skills such as changing tyres, oil and water checks and general brake down safety of the vehicles. We also have held a night with our Local SES with a hybrid vehicle showing safety features of the vehicle and the difference between  hybrid technology and to that without so that the SES are able to ensure the safety of all in the recovery and rescue of occupant’s and volunteers alike.

The Hume Bank City2City 2016

Jacob Toyota were proud sponsors of The Hume Bank City2City again in 2016 for the second year running.

All proceeds raised by the 2016 Hume Bank City2City Run Walk will go directly to Albury Wodonga Health and this year, funds raised will be directed to the North East Border Mental Health Service.

Albury Wodonga Health is the only cross border health service in Australia and is one of six regional and rural health services in Victoria with its referral area and local population upwards of 260,000.

In 2016 there were over 4200 participants raising a total of $110,000 for North East Border Mental Health Service.

Check out our Jacob Toyota All Stars who all did a great job helping to raise funds for our local community.
